These notes describe the processing of personal data in connection with the RoomTrace iOS app and when you visit this public website (roomscan.giraffe.gmbh). They reflect the current project state without a dedicated cloud requirement for the app and without third-party web fonts or marketing/analytics embeds on the website.

2. Use of this website
When you open this website, the hosting provider and web server typically process technical access data needed for operation (for example IP address, timestamp, requested resource, user agent, status codes).
Content (including fonts and JavaScript) is served from the same site; web fonts and analytics tools are not loaded from third-party providers such as Google.
Where this involves personal data, the legal basis is primarily Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure website) and, where applicable, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR if the processing is necessary to provide the information you request.
3. About the app
RoomTrace is a native iOS app for capturing interior rooms with Apple RoomPlan on compatible LiDAR devices. The app is designed to store project data locally on the device and to provide export features only when the user explicitly starts them.
4. Camera and room capture data
The app needs camera access for actual room capture. Room and project data are processed to capture, display, and locally store the scan result. In the current project state, this data is not transferred to remote servers.
5. Local project and export data
Saved projects, preview data, metrics, and related export files are processed and stored locally on the device. Export functions for PDF, JSON, DXF, and, where applicable, USDZ are available. Sharing only happens when you explicitly trigger an export or share action.
6. Optional location and address use
When editing a building, you can optionally use the current position to prefill an address. For this feature, the app requests location access. In the current project state, address data derived from that step is stored locally in the app if you keep it.
Apple location and geocoding services may be involved in determining the address. In that case, Apple's privacy and usage terms also apply to those services.
7. No dedicated tracking or analytics in the app
In the current project state, no dedicated external tracking or analytics solution is apparent. There is also no dedicated account or cloud infrastructure required for the core flow. If that data processing changes later, this page will be updated accordingly.
8. Legal basis
Where personal data is processed, this typically happens to provide app functions, carry out user-initiated actions, and based on your consent when permissions such as camera access or optional location access are involved. Depending on the case, legitimate interests or legal obligations may also apply.
9. Retention and deletion
Project and address data generally remain on the device until you edit or delete them in the app. Local files can be removed through the corresponding app functions.
10. Your rights
